[Global Health]: Nigeria Health Issues, and The Leading Causes of Death

A new Global study has revealed that malaria and HIV were leading causes of death in Nigeria.

In 2015, 192,284 Nigerians were reported to have died of malaria which was regarded as the number one killer of both young and old, while the second and third top causes of death were diarrheal diseases and HIV/AIDS, killing 143,689 and 131,873 people, respectively.

Ironically, in 2015, the top three non-fatal causes of health loss were iron-deficiency anemia, low back pain, and major depression, meaning that the conditions that kill are not typically those that make people sick in Nigeria.
